SOS Childrens Village’s The Gambia Trust is a non-governmental social development organisation that has been active in the field of children’s rights and committed to children’s needs and concerns since 1982. Focussing its work on children without parental care and children in families in difficult circumstances, the organisation has a wide range of programmes, which include: Children’s Villages, Youth Facilities, Family Strengthening Programmes, Kindergartens, Schools, a Mother and Child Clinic, Vocational Training Centres, a Child’s Rights Instrument, Agent for Sustainable Change Project and a Nutrition Improvement Project.
We are looking for suitably qualified candidates for the positions of Children’s Village (CV) Manager for SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia Bakoteh Location.
Children’s Village (CV) Manager:
The CV Manager manages a coordinated approach to childcare in SOS Children’s Village Bakoteh Location. He/she is involved in the planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Children’s Village, Youth Village, and Educational Programmes which include the Kindergarten, the Techincal Senior Secondary School, and the Lower & Upper Basic School as directed by the National Director and in accordance with the organisational standards and strategies.
Qualifications/Competencies required:
• Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development, Social Work or any other relevant area.
• Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in the area of social services. Experience in education-related area will be an added advantage.
• Experience in managing programmes, monitoring and evaluation.
• Demonstrated experience in leadership and personnel management.
• Excellent command of the English language; and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate, inspire others and work effectively with diverse set of people.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Good knowledge of child rights.
• Awareness and understanding of social development issues including gender, education, health, HIV/AIDS, etc.
• Excellent computer, financial and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
