The National Environment Agency of The Gambia is implementing a nationwide project to ensure fair and equitable sharing of benefits from genetic resource use, in line with the Nagoya Protocol. This four-year project (2025-2029), funded by GEF, includes nationwide awareness and stakeholder consultations to integrate the protocol’s principles of access and benefit-sharing (ABS) into The Gambia’s legal framework. The goal is to ensure benefits from the utilization of The Gambia’s genetic resources are shared equitably.
