DESCRIPTION:
As an English Language Instructor, you will be at the forefront of our mission to deliver world-class English language education. This role combines traditional teaching excellence with modern educational technology to create engaging, results-driven learning experiences. You will work with both adult and young learners — including professionals, entrepreneurs, university applicants, school-age children, and individuals pursuing international opportunities — who demand focused, efficient, and effective language training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver high-quality IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC preparation courses for adult learners across all proficiency levels (CEFR A1–C2)
• Conduct comprehensive English language instruction covering all four skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking
• Design and implement personalized learning plans based on diagnostic assessments and individual learner goals
• Integrate exam-specific strategies, time management techniques, and scoring optimization methods into instruction
• Conduct regular mock examinations and provide detailed, constructive feedback on performance
• Participate in curriculum development initiatives and contribute to the creation of proprietary learning materials
• Represent Cher’s LLC at educational events, workshops, and community outreach programs as required
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA, B.Ed., or equivalent) in English, Linguistics, Education, TESOL, or a closely related field
• CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL (or equivalent Level 5 TESOL qualification) with a minimum of 120 hours and observed teaching practice
• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching English to adult and young learners
• Demonstrated experience with IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or TOEIC exam preparation (preferred)
• Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) (preferred)
• Police Character Certificate/Clearance (required for all applicants)
• Non-Gambian nationals must possess a valid Passport (min. 6 months validity) and a valid Residential Permit B, or proof of eligibility to obtain one prior to commencement of duties
• Recent Medical Certificate of Fitness from a recognized government hospital (e.g., EFSTH or Kanifing General)
