Job Overview
The IT Officer will be responsible for managing and supporting the institution’s information technology systems, digital communication platforms, website operations, student database systems, and ICT infrastructure. The officer will also support institutional marketing through digital media management and ensure smooth technological operations to facilitate teaching, learning, administration, and communication.

Key Responsibilities

ICT Infrastructure and Systems Management

● Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, printers, internet connectivity, and other ICT equipment.

● Monitor and troubleshoot hardware and software issues within SMBI.

● Ensure proper functioning of classroom ICT facilities and training equipment.

● Conduct periodic maintenance and upgrades of SMBI’s ICT infrastructure.

● Maintain data backup and cybersecurity procedures.

Website and Digital Platforms Management

● Manage and regularly update SMBI’s website.

● Support the redesign and improvement of SMBI’s digital platforms.

● Manage institutional email systems and online communication tools.

● Monitor website performance and ensure information accuracy.

Student Records and Database Management

● Develop and maintain electronic student records and database systems.

● Support admissions and online registration processes.

● Ensure proper storage, confidentiality, and retrieval of institutional data.

Social Media and Digital Marketing Support

● Design and publish digital promotional content, flyers, banners, and notices.

● Support online student recruitment campaigns and media promotions.

● Monitor digital engagement and generate periodic analytics reports.

Technical Support and User Assistance

● Provide technical support to management, staff, lecturers, and students.

● Train staff on basic ICT usage and digital systems where necessary.

● Support virtual meetings, presentations, and online learning activities.

Institutional Support Functions

● Assist in the production of institutional reports, presentations, and multimedia materials.

● Support the production of promotional videos and institutional branding materials.

● Perform any other ICT-related duties assigned by Management.

Required Qualifications

Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Networking and Systems Administration, or any related field from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications (Added Advantage): Relevant professional certifications in ICT-related fields such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, Web Development, Graphic Design, or related technical certifications.

Experience Requirements
● Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in IT support, systems administration, website management, or digital communications.

● Experience managing websites and social media platforms.

● Experience in database management and digital records systems is an added advantage.

● Previous experience working in an educational institution is desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies

● Strong computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.

● Knowledge of website management and content management systems.

● Graphic design and multimedia editing skills.

● Social media management and digital marketing knowledge.

● Good understanding of networking and internet systems.

● Good communication and interpersonal skills.

● High level of integrity and confidentiality.
