Job Summary
The post holder will conduct tourism facility inspections, including upcountry, assist in implementing a robust quality control system, maintain a proper documentation system, and ensure conformity with customer requirements under the GT Board Act 2011, Tourism Regulation, and other quality control standards. Also, investigate quality problems and recommend changes or improvements.
Key Functions/responsibilities
- Prepare weekly field schedules with the supervisor, using the establishment register, risk priorities, outstanding corrective actions, and licensing Group visits geographically and coordinate joint inspections where required.
- Review previous reports, complaints and establishment records before each visit. Prepare authorized checklists, identification, digital tools and inspection equipment.
- Assess premises, guest rooms, service areas, facilities, cleanliness, maintenance, customer service, accessibility and relevant safety arrangements against the approved criteria.
- Check hygiene, sanitation, food-handling arrangements, waste management, fire preparedness, pool and recreational safety where Refer matters requiring specialist assessment to the appropriate authority.
- Record observations, measurements, photographs taken under approved procedures, and supporting documents. Apply classification criteria consistently and submit assessment findings for review.
- Investigate assigned complaints fairly, obtain relevant accounts and records, and distinguish substantiated findings from allegations.
- Report serious or imminent risks to the supervisor immediately and support an authorized response. Preserve relevant records following serious incidents and coordinate with competent agencies as directed.
- Participate in an authorized evening, weekend, spot and joint inspections when operational needs require it.
- Produce accurate inspection reports identifying the establishment, date, criteria assessed, findings, evidence, risk significance, recommended action and follow-up requirements.
- Enter inspection results into the approved database or digital licensing and inspection platform. Maintain complete, confidential and traceable establishment files.
- Submit weekly activity updates and monthly summaries of inspections, recurring deficiencies, overdue actions and establishments requiring management attention.
- Provide practical advice on meeting approved standards and improving service Support operator sensitization and staff training activities assigned by the department.
- Work with Licensing, Quality Assurance, Enforcement, Regional Tourism Officers and relevant public institutions to avoid duplication and support coordinated follow-up.
- Recommend improvements to checklists, procedures and inspection priorities based on evidence from fieldwork.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, public health, hygiene, environmental health, or a relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive working experience in tourism, quality control, and facilities inspection

- Effective teamwork, interpersonal, and leadership
- Ability to plan and perform highly precise measurements and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
