Organizational Background: The Network against Gender-Based Violence (NGBV) is a membership based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) formed in The Gambia in 2009 as a joint public-civil society initiative to combat gender-based violence including harmful traditional practices. It serves as a platform for discussion, formulation and implementation of strategic actions for collective response to gender-based violence by state and non-state actors who are mandated or interested in preventing and protecting women and children from all forms of violence, discrimination and harmful practices including FGM/C and child marriage. Since its inception, the Network has engaged in series of campaigns, advocacy, awareness creation, research, capacity building, data collection and strengthening service delivery initiatives at central and regional level.
About the Project: Network secured funding from UNFPA through its Gender Promotion Initiative (GPI 2.0) Project. The Project is entitled: Strengthening Civil Society Organizations to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment through implementation of the Action Plan on UNSCR 1325 and the TRRC White Paper Recommendations. It is supported under the Peace Building Fund (PBF), with an amount of $2.5 million for 36 months. It aims to enhance the institutional capacity of civil society organizations to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, particularly in rural areas, and to foster solidarity among civil society organizations.
UNFPA, as the project fund recipient will work with three umbrella organization namely; Network against Gender Based Violence (NGBV), ActionAid International The Gambia (AAITG) and The Association of NGOs (TANGO), and twenty other CSOs from targeted regions (WCR, LRR and URR) as implementing partners. To ensure effective monitoring of the project activities to achieve the project goal, objectives and outputs, NGBV requires the services of a competent, professional and reliable Accountant to ensure effective monitoring of the project and other related programmes.
