SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is a non-governmental social development organisation that has been active in the field of children’s rights and committed to children’s needs and concerns since 1982. Focussing its work on children without parental care and children in families in difficult circumstances, the organisation has a wide range of programmes, which include: Children’s Villages, Supervised Independent Living Arrangements, Small Group Homes,, Family & Community Strengthening Programmes, Kindergartens, Lower, Upper Basic and High Schools, a Medical  Clinic, Vocational Training Centres,  Youth Empowerment project, Green Economy and Education Project,  and a Monetizing Waste Project.

SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia GENDER EQUALITY FIRST PROJECT is looking for qualified suitable candidates for the position of a  Finance & Administrative Officer.

Finance and Administrative Officer (Basse, Upper River Region)

The Finance and Administrative Officer will lead the financial planning, budgeting and disbursement of funds for the implementation of the project activities in accordance with the organisation’s standards, policies, strategies, financial and reporting procedures, and rules and regulations. He/she will be responsible for facility and human resource management. He/she will also support the project with the office finance and administrative duties.

Position Demands

  • Bachelor’s Degree or professional qualification in AAT, Management , CAT/FIA  Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • At least three years’ experience in office finance and personnel management.
  • Experience in managing office matters efficiently.
  • Experience in maintaining complete and accurate accounts of all financial activities of the project.
  • Provide financial information relevant to program management.
  • Support coworkers at the project to ensure transparency, accountability, efficient and proper use of funds.
  • A track record of accuracy, reliability, and efficiency at work.
  • A good knowledge of Finance and Admin Management.
  • Must be computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power point applications, internet, etc. 
  • Must be proficient in English Language (basic knowledge in French will be an advantage).
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
