Introduction 

WasteAid is an international non-governmental organisation that works in low and middle income countries, including The Gambia, to implement environmental and economic  development programmes, focusing on support to nascent green businesses and grassroots  entrepreneurs.  Our work improves the livelihoods of some of the poorest and most  marginalised, promotes circular economy innovation and contributes to a cleaner and healthier  future for all.  

WasteAid is inviting proposals from qualified providers for a four-day business finance  modelling and branding training session. This training will be conducted weekly over the span of  one month and will cater to at least 25 participants from our Waste to Use Challenge  competition and core members from the Dennakuwo Network. 

The selected service provider will be expected to conduct: 

  1. Financial Modelling Training Components: 
  • Excel-based Financial Modelling: Building financial statements, forecasting, and  scenario analysis. 
  • Valuation Techniques: Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Comparable Company  Analysis, and sensitivity analysis. 
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identifying financial risks and stress-testing  models. 
  1. Branding Training Components: 
  • Personal & Corporate Branding: Defining brand identity, positioning, and  messaging. 
  • Visual Identity & Marketing Strategies: Logo, colour schemes, and digital  branding techniques.

  • Storytelling & Brand Communication: Engaging stakeholders with compelling  narratives. 
  1. Practical Hands-on Activities: 
  • Case Studies & Real-world Applications: Industry-specific examples and  interactive exercises. 
  • Live Demonstrations & Software Tools: Use of Excel, financial modelling software, and branding tools like Canva or Adobe. 
  • Role-playing & Branding Simulations: Crafting elevator pitches and investor  presentations. 
  1. Post-Training Support & Resources: 
  • Templates & Toolkits: Ready-to-use financial models and branding templates. Mentorship & Follow-ups: Q&A sessions, one-on-one coaching, or feedback on  participants’ projects.

Project Background & Objectives 

The training activity will be delivered as part of WasteAid’s Advancing waste and resource  management in The Gambia, building a professional community, and supporting a circular  economy through education and investment (Dennakuwo II) Project. 

The project has two main objectives: 

Objective 1: To further develop the Greater Banjul Circular Economy Network (CEN) by  increasing visibility and membership, supporting self-sufficiency in leadership and training and  deepening partnerships with CIWM members. 

Objective 2: To support circular economy innovations, sustainable waste management practices,  and livelihood opportunities through training and pilot projects, focusing on the needs of local  authorities and economically vulnerable groups.

Under Objective 2: WasteAid recently implemented its second Waste to Use  Challenge, providing seed funding to six businesses to enhance their business plans.  Throughout the competition program, participants underwent comprehensive training  in marketing and entrepreneurship development. A mentorship needs assessment  survey conducted with these businesses revealed a strong interest in further developing  their branding and business modelling strategies. As a result, we are seeking  professional trainers to support and refine their business models and branding to drive  sustainable growth.

Scope of Work 

The successful bidder will be required to: 

  • Design and implement a structured curriculum covering branding, business  modelling, and market positioning with practical exercises. 
  • Guide businesses in developing a unique brand identity, refining their business  models, and identifying revenue streams using tools like the Business Model  Canvas. 
  • Provide one-on-one coaching, assist in market research, competitor analysis, and  financial planning for sustainable business growth. 

The deliverables should be completed and reported on in full by 5th May 2025.

Proposal Requirements 

Interested bidders should submit a proposal that includes: 

  • Company/Consultant Profile 

Brief background, legal registration status (where applicable), and relevant experience. 

  • Technical Proposal  

A short document outlining the bidders understanding of the scope of work, methodology,  and implementation plan. 

  • Financial Proposal – Detailed cost breakdown including (but not limited to): Fees for service provision: with a breakdown of days allocated to each task Expenses for service provision: e.g. transport to the training site, airtime etc.  Expenses for delivering the activity: e.g. training materials etc. 
  • Activity Plan – Schedule for completion of tasks.

  • References – Contact details of at least two previous clients.

Evaluation Criteria 

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following: 

Technical Approach– Feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methodology. Experience & Expertise– Relevant past work and team qualifications. 

Financial Proposal– Cost-effectiveness and budget clarity. 

Timeline– Ability to meet deadlines and project schedule. 

Shortlisted bidders may be invited for an interview or presentation.

Budget & Payment Terms 

The budget (Financial Proposal) should be presented in accordance with the guidance in Section  4 of this RfP, submitted in GMD and must include all applicable taxes. 

Payment will be made in phases based on agreed deliverables. The consultant may propose a  payment schedule in their financial proposal, however WasteAid reserves the right to request  alignment of the payment schedule with organisational policies. 

WasteAid reserves the right to negotiate the final contract price. 

Payments will be made via online bank transfer to the Service Provider’s nominated bank  account.

This RFP does not guarantee a contract award. 

All submitted proposals shall remain valid for 30 days from the submission deadline. 

Service Providers must comply with any legal, ethical, or compliance requirements to deliver the  specified activities in The Gambia.
