Job Summary: Ensure the appropriate maintenance of the bridge and road ancillaries

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• repairs, refurbishes or replaces defective property, infrastructure and equipment and performs corrective maintenance activities as required
• performs planned civil maintenance inspections including bridge bearings and railings, structure drains, drainage pits, roadside landscaping, pavements, bridge members and joints, underpass, line marking, signposts, guard barriers, retaining walls etc.
• implements temporary signage and traffic management measures in accordance with procedures
• prepares reports as per internal procedures

Details of Tasks 

• performs planned maintenance activities including rubbish removal, gutter sweeping, landscaping, concrete masonry repairs, environmental monitoring, road sweeping etc.;
• documents all activities, readings taken, materials and time used;
• provides traffic management services and participates in incident response;
• performs clean up operations of incidents as well as liaising and assisting “on-site” emergency services and other organizations to ensure incidents are rectified efficiently;
• assists in the upkeep of stores for consumables and spare parts;
• provides assistance to other colleagues as required;
• performs shift work and On-Call duties on a regular basis working outdoors in all types of weather and traffic conditions.  This will involve working on the bridge, sometimes in emergency conditions;
• observes technical procedures and work instructions whilst maintaining safe work practices at all times;
• participates in appropriate training both formally and on-the-job as required;
• assists in the supervision of outsourced activities;
• assists in incident investigations such as asset damage etc;
• performs minor routine testing of “on-road” assets  such as testing toll lane signs etc; 
• obtains a full working knowledge of Transgambia Bridge Company structure, procedures (including Safety), equipment, systems and facilities to meet contractual requirements;
• participates in simulation exercises and competency demonstrations;
• other duties as required.

Other Expectations of the job

• Required to care for and operate all assigned tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner;
• Required to care for and properly manage all facilities, materials, supplies, stocks and inventories under his/her supervision;
• Required to maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment of the working area.

Education High School Graduate

Work Experience 3 years’ experience in in building, civil and road maintenance. Specific experience as a welder or masonry appreciated
