Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer (ME) reports to the Chief Engineer (CE) and is responsible for the coordination, supervision and execution of all mechanical daily field works as well as the up keep of the mechanical equipment in the power plant and processing facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance works on steam turbine, diesel engines, mechanical engine auxiliaries and other processing units.
- monitor and execute unplanned maintenance works on all mechanical equipment in the entire power plant and processing facilities
- Conduct periodic checks and tests on the functionality of all mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose and repair faulty mechanical and pneumatic equipment in the power plant and within the processing facilities.
- Supervise the usage and maintenance of tools and measuring instruments.
- Check on a daily basis all mechanical equipment to make sure that they are in good operating conditions.
- Work with other staff to identify and solve operational challenges.
- Support the Chief Engineer in ffacilitating the smooth running of the plants.
- Prepare daily maintenance activities and periodic reports for submission to the Chief Engineer.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of all maintenance activities.
- Advise the Chief Engineer on technical and other related matters.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety issues on the sites at all times.
- Initiate and participate in the training of other staff of the department.
Required Education, skills, competence and Experience:
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering
- 4 years of experience working in a power station or similar environment as a Mechanic
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory position
- strong working knowledge of facility operations, including facilities and equipment
- In-depth understanding of power station operations.
- Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Interest and aptitude in mechanical matters, industrial processes, and agricultural production and processing issues
- Experience working in the groundnut industry will be an added advantage.
