SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is looking for a suitably qualified candidate for the position of an Accountant for the Professional Training and Production Centre (PTPC) .

Position summary:

The Accountant is responsible for keeping the financial books of the PTPC up to date and in order according to KDI accounting procedures as defined in the KDI financial manual. The role involves preparing monthly income and expenditure reports for the project under the direction of the project head, preparing annual budgets, and ensuring compliance with all financial procedures and regulations.

The Accountant works under the supervision of the PTPC Coordinator and in close collaboration with the National Office Finance Department.

General aim of the position

To maintain accurate and timely financial records, support budget preparation and monitoring, and ensure compliance with SOS Children’s Villages financial policies and donor requirements for the PTPC.

• Keep the financial books of the PTPC up to date and in order according to KDI accounting procedures.
• Prepare monthly income and expenditure reports for the project under the direction of the project head.
• Prepare annual budgets for the PTPC.
• Ensure compliance with the financial procedures and regulations of SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
• Support the PTPC Coordinator in budget tracking and financial monitoring.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports for donors and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure absolute honesty, integrity, and confidentiality in handling financial information.

Qualifications/Competencies required:

• Higher education in Accounting (AAT III, CAT III, ACCA I, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent).
• At least three years’ relevant work experience in accounting.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent mathematical, accounting, and computer skills.
• Good knowledge of the financial procedures and regulations of SOS Children’s Villages The Gambia or other internationally recognised organisation.
• Accuracy, reliability, and efficiency in financial record-keeping.
• Absolute honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
