CorpsAfrica/Gambia is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its  4th cohort of National Volunteers (G4). This unique opportunity is designed for passionate young Gambians who are committed to making a difference through community-led development and grassroots service.

About CorpsAfrica

CorpsAfrica is a non-profit organization that provides young Africans with the opportunity to serve in rural communities in their own countries. Volunteers are trained and supported to facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified and driven by community members. The experience fosters personal growth, civic responsibility, and professional development while contributing to sustainable development. Since launching its first program in Morocco in 2013, CorpsAfrica has expanded to 11 countries across the continent and is building a growing Pan-African network of young leaders committed to community-led development. 

Role : Volunteer

Location: Rural communities across The Gambia

Duration: 12 months (full-time service)

Key Responsibilities:

• Live and serve in a rural or remote Gambian community for one year
• Facilitate community meetings, needs assessments, and participatory development planning
• Support the design and implementation of sustainable, community-led projects
• Build relationships with local leaders, stakeholders, and organizations
• Identify and implement skills development activities for the host community with particular focus on empowering youth and women, and job reaction
• Facilitate environmental sustainability and climate change adaptation activities
• Facilitate resource mobilization at the local level for activities and projects implementation
• Serve to connect the host community with development partners at local, regional and national levels for the implementation of community-led development activities.
• Submit regular monitoring and evaluation reports and documentation of activities and impact
• Act as a role model and representative of CorpsAfrica’s mission and values

Eligibility Criteria (Essential Requirements):

• Must be a citizen of The Gambia
• Must be 21 years or older at the start of service
• Must hold a university degree or possess equivalent professional experience or higher national diploma
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to commit to one year of service in rural or remote communities
• Understand and embrace volunteerism as an altruistic act, without expectation of financial gain
