CALL FOR APPLICATION FOR POSITION OF CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBER OF THE GAMBIA ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION
The Hon Attorney General and Minister of Justice acting in accordance with section 3(5) of The Gambia Anti-Corruption Act, 2023 (the Act), hereby invites applications from suitably qualified Gambians for the positions of Chairperson and Members of The Gambia Anti-Corruption Commission.
ABOUT THE GAMBIA ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION
The Gambia Anti-Corruption Commission is established under the Act as a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal. The Commission has the authority to sue and be sued in its corporate name, enter into contracts, acquire, hold, manage, and dispose of property, and exercise the rights, powers, and privileges of a natural person of full age and capacity. This Commission is tasked with promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability in public and private sectors and combating corruption in all its forms.
COMPOSITION OF THE COMMISSION
The Commission shall consist of a Chairperson and two other members. The members shall be appointed by the President after consultation with the Public Service Commission and subject to the approval of the National Assembly.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT
In accordance with section 5 of The Gambia Anti-Corruption Act 2023 to be eligible for appointment as a member of the Commission, a person shall possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Be a person of integrity, competence, and maturity of judgment.
- Have knowledge and experience of not less than ten years in any of the following fields: ethics and governance, law, public administration, economics, audit or accounting, or any other relevant field of human endeavor or profession. Have had a distinguished career in his or her field of service
DISQUALIFICATION
The following individuals are not eligible to serve as members of the Commission –
- A person actively involved in the activities of a political party.
- An undischarged bankrupt.
- A person who has been convicted of a felony.
TENURE OF OFFICE
The Chairperson shall hold office for a term of five years, and other members of the Commission shall hold office for a term of four years. Both may be re-appointed for one more term. The Chairperson and other members of the Commission shall hold office on a full-time basis and shall hold no other office in the private or public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Members of the Commission will be responsible for inter alia formulating and overseeing the implementation of anti-corruption policies, providing strategic direction for the Commission’s activities, establishing partnerships with key stakeholders in the governance and rule of law sectors, investigating and addressing corruption-related complaints and promoting ethical conduct and transparency in public life.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT
- a) A motivational letter (maximum two pages) demonstrating how they meet the eligibility criteria.
- b) A detailed and up-to-date copy of their CV
- c) two reference letters (one professional reference and one reference from a person that can attest to the Applicant’s good character)
- d) Copies of academic and professional certificates.
All applications must be sealed and labeled as “APPLICATION FOR POSITION OF MEMBER OF THE GAMBIA ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION” and submitted to the Records Office of the Ministry of Justice on or before 5pm on 28th February 2025.
