The Student Revolving Loan Scheme (SRLS) invites applications from qualified, experienced, and dynamic professionals for the position of Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist.
About SRLS
The Student Revolving Loan Scheme (SRLS) is a statutory public institution established by an Act of the National Assembly of the Republic of The Gambia in 2025. The Scheme is mandated to facilitate equitable access to accredited tertiary and higher education through sustainable student financing mechanisms.
Position Overview
The Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist will lead the development and implementation of SRLS’s communications and public relations strategy, manage media and digital engagement, and establish effective knowledge management systems.
The role is central to ensuring transparency, institutional visibility, and effective stakeholder engagement while safeguarding the reputation and credibility of the Scheme. The position reports to the Director of Programmes, Research and Stakeholder Engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Public Relations
- Develop and implement communications and PR strategies
- Draft press releases, newsletters, reports, briefs, and official correspondence
- Coordinate media engagements, interviews, and press briefings
- Monitor media coverage and advise Management
Digital & Social Media Management
- Manage and update SRLS social media platforms and website
- Develop digital content plans and engagement strategies
- Track and report analytics and engagement metrics
Knowledge Management
- Establish and maintain a knowledge repository and institutional archive
- Document lessons learned, milestones, and institutional outputs
- Support documentation of Board decisions and policy outputs
Branding & Institutional Visibility
Ensure consistent use of SRLS branding and identity
Support promotional materials and stakeholder events
Promote the positive public image of the Scheme
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Media Studies, or related field
- A Master’s degree is an added advantage
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in communications, media, or public relations
- Proven experience managing digital platforms and social media
- Experience in photography, videography, or graphic design is desirable
- Experience in a public institution or development environment is an advantage
Competencies Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of media ethics and public communication standards
- Proficiency in digital content management tools
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- High integrity and professionalism
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Language Requirements
- High proficiency in English (written and oral)
- Proficiency in at least two national languages of The Gambia
- Additional languages are an advantage
