The Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) was established by an Act of Parliament and became an independent National Society on 5 October 1966, after The Gambia gained independence from Britain. Its constitution/statutes are based on the Geneva Conventions and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality). The GRCS is officially recognized by the Government of The Gambia as a humanitarian relief organization, auxiliary to the public authorities in the humanitarian and development fields and the Medical Services of the Armed Forces. In relation to the public authorities, the GRCS maintains its independence and neutrality which allows it to act in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the Movement.
The GRCS is a legally constituted organization with legal status and an unlimited term of existence. It is operating in all the seven administrative regions/areas in The Gambia and has thousands of active volunteers across the country who are well trained in different areas of intervention of the National Society. The Society has won the trust and confidence of the communities and partners and is currently the largest humanitarian institution with strong network of volunteers throughout the country. The Gambia Red Cross Society operates in the following core programme areas, namely; Health and Care in communities, Disaster Preparedness and crisis Response (DPCR), Dissemination of the Red Cross Fundamental Principles, Volunteer Management, Branch Development, Gender and Inclusion, Volunteer Management, Finance Depart, Logistics and Pre-Hospital care.
The overall objective of the GRCS is to prevent and alleviate human suffering with complete impartiality, not discriminating against nationality, race, ethnicity, age, gender, religious beliefs, class or political opinions, or any similar criteria and shall act in accordance with the spirit and principles of the Geneva Conventions.
The Vision Mission is “Improving the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity” with the Goal of “to be a reputable, strong and neutral humanitarian organization, with a national network of volunteers and resources and an international link with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, capable of preventing and alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable.
Job purpose
The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, visualizing, and reporting programme, operational, and emergency response data to support evidence-based decision-making within GRCS. The role ensures high-quality data, timely analytical products, clear insights, effective dashboards, and responsible use of digital data systems across projects, departments, and emergency operations.
Job duties and responsibilities
Data Analysis, Visualization and Reporting
. Collect, clean, validate, analyze, and interpret programme, operational, administrative, and emergency response data.
· Develop and maintain datasets, data models, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical reports to support management decision-making.
· Produce regular statistical reports, data visualizations, infographics, and situation updates for GRCS leadership, programme teams, donors, and partners.
· Identify trends, gaps, risks, and performance patterns from multiple data sources and provide actionable recommendations.
· Ensure analytical outputs are accurate, timely, user-friendly, and aligned with GRCS reporting requirements.
Data Systems and Digital Tools
Support and improve digital data collection, data management, and business intelligence platforms such as Kobo Toolbox, Survey123, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL databases, and similar tools.
· Design, test, and maintain data collection forms, reporting templates, dashboards, and automated data workflows.
· Provide technical support to staff and volunteers on data entry, data quality, dashboard use, and reporting procedures.
· Ensure functionality, security, documentation, and proper use of databases and information-sharing platforms.
· Promote standardization of data definitions, indicators, collection methodologies, and reporting templates across programmes.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Support
· Support baseline surveys, needs assessments, post-distribution monitoring, evaluations, and other data-driven learning exercises.
· Assist programme and PMER teams in developing indicators, data tracking systems, analytical frameworks, and reporting tools.
· Monitor data quality and conduct regular data verification, triangulation, and consistency checks.
· Analyze beneficiary feedback, complaints, and accountability data to support programme improvement and decision-making.
Geographic Information System (GIS) and Mapping
· Produce maps, spatial analysis, and location-based visualizations to support programme implementation, targeting, monitoring, and emergency response.
· Maintain geographical datasets and support field mapping exercises where necessary.
· Integrate spatial data with programme and operational datasets to strengthen analysis and reporting.
Coordination and Capacity Building
· Coordinate with programme teams, PMER, IT/IM, branches, and partners to ensure harmonized data analysis, reporting, and information-sharing practices.
· Train staff and volunteers on data collection tools, data quality standards, dashboard interpretation, and basic analysis procedures.
· Participate in coordination meetings and provide analytical support during emergencies, assessments, and rapid response operations.
· Translate complex data findings into clear messages for technical and non-technical audiences.
Compliance and Data Protection
. Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and protection of sensitive data.
. Ensure compliance with donor requirements, data protection standards, and GRCS policies.
. Promote ethical data management and responsible information sharing.
. Data Analysis Support to the GRCS Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
· Support the collection, validation, analysis, and visualization of operational data during emergencies and disaster response operations.
· Develop and maintain real-time dashboards, situation reports, analytical briefs, and key performance indicators to support evidence-based decision-making within the EOC.
· Monitor and consolidate data from field teams, branches, partners, and digital data collection platforms to produce an accurate common operational picture.
· Support the preparation of operational reports, response analysis, and performance summaries for EOC management and decision-makers.

5. Maintain a good working relationship with the IFRC, ICRC and PNS delegates, and technical and administrative services.
6. Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager
Position Requirements
Education, Required & Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Statistics, Data Science, GIS, Monitoring & Evaluation, Information Management, or a related field.
Experience, Required & Preferred
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in data analysis, business intelligence, monitoring and evaluation analysis, information management, or statistical reporting.
Experience developing dashboards, analytical reports, digital data collection tools, and database management solutions.
Experience working with NGOs, humanitarian organizations, or development programs is an advantage.
Languages, Required & Preferred
Fluently spoken and written English
Good command of at least two most spoken local languages
Skills and Competencies
Strong analytical, statistical, problem-solving, and data visualization skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, Kobo Toolbox, Survey123, and other data analysis or visualization software.
Knowledge of GIS and mapping tools is an advantage.
Knowledge of REST APIs, database integration, and automated data exchange between digital systems is an advantage.
Strong report writing, data storytelling, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
