Job Overview

Reports To: Federation Manager

Duty Station: Federation Area Office Jambanjelly.

Job Purpose:

The Education Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating education programs and activities of the Federation. The officer works closely with schools, communities, government authorities, partners, and beneficiaries to improve access to quality education, promote inclusive learning, and support the achievement of programs objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Develop and implement education project activities in line with approved work plans.
  • Coordinate educational interventions, training sessions, workshops, and community outreach activities.
  • Support the development of project proposals, budgets, and implementation strategies.
  • Ensure project activities are delivered on time and within budget.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Collect, compile, and analyze project data and indicators.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to schools and project sites.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports.
  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, education authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations.
  • Represent the NGO at education sector meetings and relevant forums.
  • Facilitate communication between project beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Capacity Building

  • Organize and facilitate training for teachers, school management committees, parents, and community volunteers.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to education stakeholders.
  • Promote child-centered, gender-sensitive, and inclusive education approaches.

Community Engagement

  • Mobilize communities to support education initiatives.
  • Promote school enrollment, retention, and completion, especially for vulnerable children.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns on education-related issues.

Safeguarding and Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with DDYF policies, donor requirements, and national education regulations.
  • Promote child protection and safeguarding principles in all project activities.
  • Report safeguarding concerns according to organizational procedures.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Assist in procurement and logistics related to education activities.
  • Support budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. (NB: Bachelor in Mathematics would be an added advantage), and female candidates are urge to apply.

    At least 2–3 years of experience in education programming, community development, or NGO              work.

  • Experience in project management, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of national education policies and systems.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and data management

Data collection and analysis skills.

  • Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely implementation of education activities.
  • Achievement of project targets and indicators.
  • Quality and timeliness of reports.
  • Number of stakeholders trained and supported.
  • Level of community participation and engagement.

Compliance with donor and organizational requirements.

  • Working Conditions
  • Frequent travel to schools and project communities.
  • Occasional work outside normal office hours during trainings, events, and field activities.
  • Interaction with children, teachers, parents, community leaders, and government officials.
