Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Reporting To: Chief Engineer
Contract Type: Permanent
Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer shall be responsible for the planning, development, coordination & implementation of maintenance strategies and activities of the Electrical Section of the Engineering and Production Department. The individual shall also be responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the work of the maintenance team of the electrical section.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and supervise assigned electrical maintenance works to attain the desired results.
- Supervise the day-to-day work flow of the electrical team to ensure that all assigned activities are performed as planned.
- Analyze assessment results, and take appropriate actions for continuous improvement
- work with the Maintenance Manager, Production manager, engineers and other departments to improve plant performance
- Respond to emergencies at the facilities whenever required.
- Communicate issues with regard to the plant and personnel to the Maintenance Manager.
- conduct electrical fault finding in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- ensure that boilers are operated within their safe design parameters and at the required operational parameters
- Undertake Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) initiatives with regard to inspection, testing, commissioning and basic electrical repairs on plants and equipment.
- provide on the job training and guidance to the electrical maintenance team
- execute maintenance work activities on time to prevent long down time
- provide periodic reports to the Maintenance Manager
Required education, skills, competence and experience
- BSc in Electrical Engineering
- four (4) years of experience working in a power station or similar environment as an Electrician
- two (2) years of experience in a supervisory position
- Proficient in fault-finding and in diagnosing complex electrical systems, including the use of PLC systems, AC/DC drives, and industrial networks.
- Proven experience in Power plant maintenance and processing facilities with focus on control and automated systems.
- strong working knowledge of facility operations, including facilities maintenance and equipment
- proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and demonstrated competence on hands on electrical systems maintenance.
- good communication and leadership skills
- experience working in the groundnut industry will be an added advantage
