Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Analyst Officer to join our dynamic team at APS Wallet, a leading provider of secure mobile wallet solutions in Gambia and beyond. In this entry-level role, you will support the analysis of transaction data, user behavior, and operational metrics to drive business decisions, enhance user experience, and mitigate risks in our fast-paced fintech environment. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about data-driven insights in mobile payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from mobile wallet transactions, user demographics, and app usage using tools like SQL, Excel, Python (Pandas, or other libraries).
- Generate reports and dashboards on key metrics such as transaction volume, churn rates, fraud patterns, and wallet adoption trends.
- Identify trends and anomalies in payment data to support fraud detection, customer segmentation, and product optimization.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate data findings into actionable recommendations.
- Assist in testing of app features and marketing campaigns, tracking performance against KPIs like user retention and revenue growth.
- Maintain data quality standards and contribute to ETL processes for real-time analytics.
- Support ad-hoc data requests from stakeholders, including regulatory reporting for financial compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in fintech, banking, or mobile payments (internships count).
- Proficiency in SQL for querying databases; familiarity with Python, Excel/Google Sheets, and visualization tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience handling financial datasets (e.g., transactions, KPIs).
- Excellent communication skills to present insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of fintech regulations (e.g., data privacy, AML) is an added advantage.
