Position Summary
The Legal Manager will provide expertise and strategic legal advice to Management regarding matters related to NFSPMC.
Responsibilities
-Legal Guidance
Provide advice and guidance to NFSPMC management. This can include general legal advice on best practices for governance and compliance, input on business decisions, legal risks, legal liabilities associated with different deals and contract negotiations, and legal strategies for litigation and other legal activities.
-NFSPMC Representation
Represent NFSPMC at hearings and trials. Prior to the proceeding, gather relevant information, sometimes requesting documents from other involved parties to build NFSPMC’s legal case. During trials, present arguments to a judge or jury, while at a hearing, the counsel may negotiate on the client’s behalf.
-Legal Research
Conduct legal research. Consult previous case information to determine its relevance to NFSPMC’s current concerns, or locate information on specific laws pertaining to NFSPMC’s activities. Conduct research based on NFSPMC’s specific questions inorder to provide accurate and timely advice.
-Legal Correspondence Negotiation, Drafting, and Execution
Negotiate, write, and execute documents (i.e., statements, letters, contracts, agreements) on behalf of NFSPMC. Ensure that the documents are readable and enforceable and that they represent NFSPMC’s best interests.
-Legal Compliance
Ensure NFSPMC complies with laws and guidelines related to their business or other activities. Provide legal guidance and advice, while anticipating changing laws and codes that NFSPMC may not be aware of, and take action to ensure that NFSPMC does not violate these laws.
-Serve as Board Secretary
Organizing and coordinating board meetings involves scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and accurately recording minutes that capture the discussions, decisions, and actions taken. Additionally, ensuring that all necessary documents are distributed to board members in advance is a key part of the process.
