Position summary

He/she Instructor will be responsible for the administration of the Mobile & PC repairs Department. He/she will conduct ICT software & hardware classes, supervise, mentor and assess the students. Share experience of managing network, desktop, tablets and mobile phones. Share knowledge of new systems information, and software upgrade.   Organize practical sessions. Innovate effective training styles. Prepare and send the trainees for field work (attachment). Explore viable opportunities to work for students.  Support creative business and skills initiatives of the students. Liaise regularly with Projects of the SOS The Gambia National Association. Build strong link with partners for the empowerment of young people. Ensure the maintenance of optimum relations at all levels. Build a strong link with soft & hardware organisations.

Position Demands

  • B.sc in ICT, Advanced Diploma in ICT, Information systems, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+ certification or other related IT professional certification.
  • Qualified cell phone repair technician with minimum of three years of experience. trouble shooting and repairing electronic devices
  • Previous experience as a help desk technician, computer technician, or IT support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve multiple issues.
  • Ability to teach ICT soft & hardware.
  • A keen and diligent person who is able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with network and desktop, tablets and Mobile phones management support.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new systems, information, software, and upgrades
  • Must be proficient in English and must have good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent administrative, teaching, organizational and communicative skills.
  • Excellent Mobile & Computer Hardware  skills
  • Excellent, analytical and report writing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • He /She must be NAAQA registered

Priority Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To train young people on mobile and pc repairs.
  • To provide repair services on today’s most popular smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop and more.
  • Keep systems up-to-date through operating systems upgrades.
  • Monitor networking equipment and servers.
  • Monitor network availability and security.
  • Oversee troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of system and mobile errors.
  • Provide support for network issues.
  • Provide technical support either by phone, remote access or site visits as needed.
  • Respond to IT/Mobile phone issues, hardware maintenance, software, networking, etc.
  • Evaluate connectivity issues, equipment, and software.
  • Modify configurations, utilities, software, etc.
  • Install and update network system improvements as needed.
  • Assist with Desktop, LAN/WAN technologies, computer repair/troubleshooting software, networks, virus protection, Wi-Fi technology, and more.
  • To develop and implement the Programme based on the Syllabus.
  • To organise practical classes
  • To source for relevant materials and equipment for the department
  • To promote and sustain trainees’ motivation throughout the training 
  • To counsel, advice and support the trainees throughout the training period
  • To identify relevant centres and make adequate arrangement for attachment of students
  • To visit and assess students on attachment.
  • To provide training support to other units of the Youth Employability Project.
  • To assist and carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time
