SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is looking for a suitably qualified candidate for the position of a Radiologist at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic, Bakoteh.

Position summary:

The Radiologist is responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic. The role involves interpreting and reporting Digital X-ray examinations, performing and reporting a wide range of ultrasound examinations including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynecological, breast, thyroid, prostate, testicular, and soft tissue ultrasound, as well as performing and reporting echocardiography examinations. The post holder will provide timely and accurate radiology reports, advise clinicians on appropriate imaging investigations and urgent findings, supervise and mentor the Radiology Technologist, and participate in quality assurance, protocol development, and continuous professional improvement.
The Radiologist reports to the Clinic Management and works closely with clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic.

General aim of the position

To provide comprehensive diagnostic imaging services at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic, ensuring accurate and timely radiology reports to support high-quality patient care.
• Interprets and reports Digital X-ray examinations.
• Performs and reports abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, gynecological, breast, thyroid, prostate, testicular, and soft tissue ultrasound examinations.
• Performs and reports echocardiography examinations.
• Provides timely and accurate radiology reports.
• Advises clinicians on appropriate imaging investigations and urgent findings.
• Supervises and mentors the Radiology Technologist.
• Participates in quality assurance, protocol development, and continuous professional improvement.

Qualifications/Competencies required:

• Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent).
• Postgraduate qualification in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging.
• Current registration and license to practice.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Specialist Radiologist in Diagnostic Imaging.
• Competence in diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiography.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to high-quality patient care.
