SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is looking for a suitably qualified candidate for the position of a Radiology Technologist / Radiographer at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic, Bakoteh.

Position summary:

The Radiology Technologist / Radiographer is responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic. The role involves performing Digital X-ray examinations, assisting in and performing Hysterosalpingography (HSG) procedures using the Digital X-ray system, preparing patients and imaging equipment for examinations, and ensuring proper patient positioning and image quality. The post holder will observe radiation protection and infection prevention standards, maintain radiology equipment and report faults promptly, upload and archive images in the Hospital Management System/PACS, work the morning shift, and respond to emergency call-outs when required.
The Radiology Technologist / Radiographer reports to the Clinic Management and works closely with the Radiologist, clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic.

General aim of the position

To perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures at the SOS Mother’s & Child Clinic, ensuring patient safety, image quality, and efficient radiology services.
• Performs high-quality Digital X-ray examinations.
• Assists in and performs Hysterosalpingography (HSG) procedures using the Digital X-ray system.
• Prepares patients and imaging equipment for examinations.
• Ensures proper patient positioning and image quality.
• Observes radiation protection and infection prevention standards.
• Maintains radiology equipment and reports faults promptly.
• Uploads and archives images in the Hospital Management System/PACS.
• Works the morning shift and responds to emergency call-outs when required.

Qualifications/Competencies required:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography/Medical Imaging or equivalent.
• Current professional registration and license to practice.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant clinical experience.
• Experience operating Digital X-ray equipment.
• Experience with HSG procedures will be an added advantage.
• Good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
