Position Summary
The National Food Security, Processing and Marketing Corporation (NFSPMC) is a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in the wholesale buying, processing, and exporting of the country’s annual crop-groundnut. The NFSPMC has also started to diversify its operations by venturing into commodity trading and agribusiness with the desire to meet the demands and aspirations of The Gambian populace.
Responsibilities
- Access Control:
- Monitor and control entry and exit points to the premises.
- Verify the identification of employees, visitors and contractors before granting access.
- Maintain accurate records of visitors and vehicle logs.
- Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises to detect and deter security breaches
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems for usual activities.
- Report any suspicious behavior or security risks to the Senior Security Supervisor.
- Incident Response:
- Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances or emergencies such as fire, theft or accidents
- Contain and manage situations until the arrival of emergency services or the Senior Security Supervisor.
- Prepare detailed incident reports for documentation and review.
- Enforcement of Security Policies:
- Enforce the Corporation’s rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment.
- Prevent unauthorized access, vandalism or theft by maintaining a visible security presence.
- Escort trespassers or individual violating policies
- Escort trespassers or individuals violating policies off the premises.
- Safety Inspections:
- Check that doors, window and gates are secure after work hours.
- Inspect fire extinguishers, alarms and other safety equipment to ensure they are operational.
- Identify and report potential hazards or safety violations to the Senior Security Supervisor.
- Customer Service and Assistance:
- Provide directions and assistance to employees, visitors or clients.
- Handle inquiries professionally and courteously while ensuring security protocols are maintained.
- Assist during the Corporation’s events or trade Seasons by managing crowd control and ensuring safety measures.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities patrols and security incidents.
- Submit detailed and timely reports to the Senior Security Supervisor.
- Participate in debriefings or meetings to discuss security concerns or updates.
- Support and Training:
- Participate in regular security training sessions or drills as directed by the Senior Security Supervisor.
- Assist in training new security personnel when required.
- Perform other security related tasks as assigned by the Senior Security Supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a security certification is an advantage.
- Proven experience as a security guard or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of security procedures, protocols, and emergency response.
- Proficiency in using security equipment, such as surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform duties that involve standing, walking, or patrolling for extended periods.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
