The Role
This is an exciting senior role that will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of TBC’s electrical and electronic equipment.
This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to join the project early such that they can:-
- Play a lead part in the team supervising the installation, testing and acceptance of all equipment
- Setting up the policies and procedures for the operational phase.
- Putting the operational phase into action
Extensive training will be provided where required. We are looking for an individual who possesses exceptional IT skills combined with good traditional electrical engineering, with the capability to quickly assimilate the skills necessary to supervise the operations and maintenance of all TBC equipment in the operational phase.
Candidates will be expected to have experience of managing both internal technicians and specialized external contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary duty will be to manage the maintenance and inspections of the TBC tolling/weighing systems and associated equipment including servers, clients, networking and tolling/weighing equipment
- Other equipment will include
- Power and distribution including UPS and generators.
- traffic monitoring , CCTV control room, video wall, weather systems
- telephone VOIP system
- building access control system
- Repairs, refurbishes or replaces defective property, equipment and performs corrective maintenance activities as required.
- Daily supervision of the Mechanical and Electrical equipment in charge of “power supply” and standby gensets, road / toll plaza and building lighting, air conditioning, and any equipment as requested.
- Performing planned maintenance inspections of the O&M building, the Toll Plaza, the Technical Shelters and other O&M facilities
- Preparing reports as in accordance with procedures.
Details of Tasks
- Maintenance of Mechanical & Electrical equipment
- obtains a full working knowledge of the procedures, electrical equipment and facilities to meet internal requirements
- performs preventative and corrective maintenance tasks of Mechanical & Electrical equipment
- carries out first and second level of maintenance
- liaises with sub-contractors regarding third level or specific preventative/corrective maintenance activities
- assists in the upkeep of stores for consumables and spare parts
- observes technical procedures and work instructions whilst always maintaining safe work practices
- participates in appropriate training both formally and on-the-job as required
- prepares regular and ad hoc Management reports according to procedures
- provide training to assist operating staff in using Electrical equipment
- provides estimates for maintenance works in accordance with job costing procedures
- Participate in the preparation of functional specifications needed for replacement and/or upgrading of equipment and facilities.
Working Environment
Shop and Field work with regular exposure to dirt, dust, noise, heat, sunlight, wind and rain.

- Attainment of objectives related to the highest functional availability of Mechanical & Electrical & IT Equipment.
- Minimal or no breakdown of systems and equipment.
- Minimal or no unscheduled downtime of equipment.
- Minimal or no run out of equipment consumables, materials, supplies or spare parts.

Education Electrical/IT Communications background
Work Experience
10 years’ experience in the maintenance of electrical/computer systems with a strong bias towards IT/communications/networks
Management of subcontractors/staff – overall responsibility
Skills & Abilities
Thorough understanding and demonstrable experience in operation and maintenance of electrical/IT equipment
Formal CCNA/Microsoft Training or equivalent.
Good knowledge of networking including configuration/monitoring and maintenance of network equipment including firewalls/routers/switches/WANs
Personal Characteristics Good interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate ability to work under pressure and to meet strict timelines Demonstrate loyalty and ethics
