Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Oversee underwriting operations and ensure consistent risk assessment and pricing.
• Review and approve large, complex, or non-standard risks within delegated authority.
• Monitor underwriting performance and portfolio profitability.
• Manage the company’s reinsurance program including treaty and facultative arrangements.
• Coordinate the placement and renewal of reinsurance treaties with reinsurers and brokers.
• Ensure adequacy of reinsurance protection in line with the company’s risk appetite.
• Provide technical guidance on complex or high-value claims.
• Conduct portfolio analysis and recommend strategies to improve risk quality and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Prepare technical reports for senior management.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to underwriting and technical staff.

 Qualifications and Experience

• Professional certification such as ACII, CIIN or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Undergradutate degree in Insurance and Risk Management
• WAII Diploma in Insurance or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience in insurance underwriting or technical operations.
• Experience working with reinsurers or reinsurance brokers is required.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
