Job Summary: Ensure the appropriate functioning of Toll Plazas during her/his shift

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- operating the Toll Plaza Manual Lane and collecting tolls using various means of payment including cash, foreign currencies, standard magnetic cards and potentially Electronic Toll Collection tags/transponders;
- performing shifts in accordance with published shift rosters to cover 24 hours, 7 days per week;
- representing the Transgambia Bridge Company to the general public ensuring information on the bridge and its products is accurately disseminated;
- reconciling takings compared to tolls generated by the toll equipment at the end of each shift ensuring guidelines for reconciliation of workstation are consistently met;
- from time to time, operating a Point a Sale.
- from time to time, operating Weighbridges / Overload Control systems
Details of Tasks
- Toll Operations in assigned Toll Lane
- Processes all kind of toll collection transactions in accordance with procedures;
- Operates the Manual Lane Processing System and the toll lane equipment;
- Handles incidents in assigned toll lane, like payment defaults, equipment malfunction, etc., in accordance with procedures;
- Performs simple maintenance activities in the Toll Lane as directed from time to time;
- Notifies the Toll Supervisor of any abnormal situation, or when assistance is required.
- Toll operations within Toll Plaza
- Provides assistance to customers and handles incidents in future unmanned Toll Lanes like autoentry/ETC lanes;
- Changes ticket rolls, printer cartridges, and other mechanical and electrical modules;
- Performs simple maintenance activities within the Toll Plaza;
- May be required to relieve other Toll Collectors.
- Customer Service
- Maintains polite, courteous, pleasant, calm, friendly, and helpful disposition at all times;
- Responds to customer queries and provides assistance in the most expeditious manner;
- Informs customers of matters relevant to toll collection, commercial products and the usage of the bridge;
- Notifies customers on other matters which need to be brought to the attention of drivers;
- Assist toll users to report comments, complaints or suggestions using the notebook with pre-set format located at each Toll Plaza.
- Handling of Toll Collections.
- Safeguards monies collected during the shift;
- Accurately and honestly records all incidents during the shift;
- Accounts for all monies collected and prepares the required shift reports and deposits collections in accordance with procedures.
- Handling of Weighbridge operations – Overload Control
- Operate the overload control, weighing all Classe 4 Trucks and issuing tickets in accordance with their weight
Other Expectations of the job
- May be required to stay beyond shift hours until a qualified Toll Collector becomes available.
- Required to care for and operate all assigned tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner;
- Required to care for and properly manage all materials, supplies, stocks and inventories under his/her supervision;

Working Environment

- Minimal discrepancy between declared revenue and theoretical revenue;

- Proper handling of customer relations, minimal customer complaints;
- Maintenance of a good customer-oriented disposition to bridge users and the public, always polite and courteous;
- Rigor in following procedures and instructions in force, including directives from the hierarchy.
