We specialize in the supply and distribution of staple food commodities including rice, sugar, onions, tea, potatoes, and cooking oil serving wholesalers, retailers, institutions, NGOs, and commercial enterprises. With a modern 10,000m² warehouse facility and a strong regional logistics network, we ensure reliable distribution across The Gambia, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau.

Objective of the Role

The objective of this position is the efficient management of PASMA Company Limited’s operational activities, including warehousing, inventory management, logistics coordination, procurement support, distribution, fleet management, and customer service operations.

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer or General Manager, the Operations Manager will be ensuring that operational processes are effectively planned, coordinated, monitored, and optimized to support the timely procurement, storage, and distribution of commodities and other products while maintaining high standards of efficiency, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities

Operations Manager shall be responsible for the management and coordination of the Company’s operational functions, including but not limited to the following:

 Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Planning and Coordination: Oversee daily operations, develop schedules and performance targets, monitor efficiency, and coordinate across procurement, warehousing and logistics.
• Warehouse and Inventory Management: Ensure proper receipt, storage, and dispatch of commodities; monitor stock levels; conduct inventory verification; and implement control systems to minimize losses.
• Logistics and Distribution: Support transport and delivery planning, monitor service providers, optimize routes and costs, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

 Fleet and Asset Management:

• Monitor and record company’s fleet operations, equipment and operational assets management.
• Ensure proper maintenance schedules are implemented for vehicles, machinery and equipment.
• Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle utilization and operational costs.

• Procurement & Supply Chain Support: Coordinate procurement activities, monitor supplier performance, and support initiatives to strengthen supply chain efficiency.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: Promote adherence to operational policies, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements while safeguarding company assets.
• Reporting and Administrative Responsibilities: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual operational reports.  Maintain operational records, inventory reports, logistics documentation, and performance data.

• Support monitoring and evaluation of operational performance indicators. Perform any other related duties as assigned by Management.

Reporting Arrangements

Operations Manager shall report directly to the Chief Executive Officer or General Manager and shall work closely with all departments to support efficient operational management, supply chain coordination, and business growth objectives.

Duration

The appointment shall be on a full-time basis subject to the Company’s Human Resource policies and procedures, including an initial probationary period 3 months.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications

The candidate shall possess:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, Industrial Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• A professional qualification such as CIPS Level 4, CILT Level 4, or an equivalent professional certification will be an added advantage.
• Background in electrical engineering will be an added advantage

Professional Experience

The candidate shall have:

• At least five (3) years of progressively responsible experience in operations management, logistics, warehousing, procurement, supply chain management, or distribution operations.
• Demonstrated experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, transportation coordination, and operational planning.

Experience in temperature-controlled warehousing.

• Experience in commodity trading, FMCG distribution, import/export operations, procurement, or logistics services will be a strong advantage.
• Experience working within a regional or multi-location operational environment will be an added advantage.

Managing a large operation of 25+ will be an added advantage

• Good inventory and stock management capabilities.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and sales/inventory management systems.
