Background
Gamswitch is recruiting an Assistant Network and Systems Administrator to support the maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of its national payment switch infrastructure. This is a critical technical role ensuring the high availability, security, and performance of the network and server environment that underpins The Gambia’s digital payment ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance, uptime, and bandwidth usage across Gamswitch’s core and member-facing connections daily
- Administer physical and virtual servers (Windows Server, Linux/RHEL) and apply system patches per change management procedures
- Provide first-level support for network incidents, core business applications, and partner integrations
- Assist in implementing network security policies in line with PCI-DSS and Central Bank of The Gambia directives
- Manage user accounts, Active Directory, access rights, and enforce least-privilege access policies
- Execute and verify daily, weekly, and monthly backup routines and support disaster recovery testing
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, server inventories, and SOPs
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field
- CompTIA Network+, CCNA (preferred), CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MCSA, or Linux LPIC-1 (preferred)
- 1–3 years in a network support or IT technician role, preferably in a financial or payments environment
- Skills in router, switch, and firewall management; Windows Server; Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL)
- Experience with Active Directory, Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), backup tools, and database management
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail; ability to work under pressure in a mission-critical environment
