The Gambia branch of Qatar Charity was established to contribute to achieving national development goals in the Republic of The Gambia, as outlined in relevant national strategies. This includes areas within Qatar Charity’s scope of work, such as education, health and nutrition, economic empowerment, social protection, social housing, water and sanitation, and humanitarian response during crises and natural disasters. The branch operates across The Gambia, delivering development and humanitarian services to underserved areas in coordination with stakeholders, particularly relevant government entities, to ensure integrated and efficient efforts.

The overall goal of the job
The job involves managing and planning engineering projects, preparing and designing their engineering plans, bill of quantity, engineering specifications, setting estimated budgets, monitoring their implementation and supervising their progress to ensure their completion within the predetermined timeframes .
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Preparing the engineering plans for the project
- Preparing a project bill of quantities with price analysis
- Preparing the engineering specifications for the project
- Preparing the project schedule and the detailed plan for project implementation
- Prepare the project budget according to the required scope of work
- Submitting periodic project reports
- Create a project timeline
- Follow up on the work, monitor the work of the main contractor and subcontractors on site,record work notes, guide the work properly, and make any modifications that may be requested or may occur during the implementation of the project
- Listing the work completed at each stage of the operations and approving the contractor payment request
- Prepare site handover reports, initial handover reports, and final handover reports
- Extensive knowledge of time-planning software
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in field work with NGOs
- Preference will be given to those with experience in preparing program and project proposals
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering and field work with communities and NGOs.
- Proficiency in English, Arabic is an additional advantage
- The ability to plan, evaluate, and make decisions under pressure .
- Ability to prepare project activity and progress reports
- Accurate knowledge of quantity calculations and how to analyze prices.
- Knowledge of drafting engineering contracts. and plans.
- Knowledge and understanding of how to set general and specific engineering specifications and contractual terms.
- Knowledge of the procedural steps for tenders.
- Knowledge and expertise in how to prepare periodic reports on business progress
- The ability to assess situations and problems and their impact on workflow
- Able to resolve disputes.
- Able to work under pressure
- Proficient in engineering software such as: AutoCAD, ArchiCAD etc.
