Job Overview
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct SOE Governance Assessments to gauge compliance with the following:
SOE Act
SOE Regulations
Board Charter
Audit Charter
Code of Good Corporate Governance
Dividend Policy
2. Contribute towards the formulation of the Commission’s quarterly and annual performance report;
3. Work with relevant departments (Legal and Financial Analyst) to review the CVs of potential Board of Directors for SOEs, then submit and recommend to the Commission.
4. Develop and implement SOE restructuring measures, contribute to legal and regulatory reforms in support of improved SOE performance
5. Conduct trainings for SOEs on Code of Good Corporate Governance and other relevant laws/instruments (SOE Act, Regulations)
6. Spearhead the setting of Governance KPIs and Contribute towards Performance Contracts (PC) assessments (M&E reports).
7. Work with other Directorates to review all SOE audits.
8. Advise the Commission on matters relating to dissolution and liquidation of SOEs.
9. Design and monitor an implementation plan for audit recommendations
Qualifications & Education:
1. The expert must have a degree (preferably Masters) in Finance, Law, Auditing, MBA, or within a Social Science field.
2. Practical experience (at least 5 years) working on corporate governance issues within the Public Sector/SOE or Private Sector
Skills:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
3. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
4. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
5. Good knowledge of office administration
6. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
